So I guess an update is over due
We had our season closer a little over a week ago and we said good bye to OSDA forever which I could not be happier about. No more pivots being able to take off without being passed the panty. No more having to call off nearly every jam because the pivot is on your ass. So ready for more advanced strategy, heavier defense, stopping on the track, skating in the opposite direction, and being able to call off the jam from the ground.
Also, my home team the Serial Thrillers finished in first place for the season with 4 wins and 1 loss. Next year I want us to go undefeated. According to Mayhem’s mom I was on top of my coaching game at the closer. I felt like I was too. I was so focused. My ladies did so good. They were trapping goats like champions.
I give birth in 81 days more or less. I am so freaking ecstatic. I can’t wait to have my baby girl here. She’s already developing the most badass tutu collection. I’m also ready to skate again. It’s so close I can taste it! I have gained 25 pounds and I will probably gain about 15 more before the baby comes. Even though 30-40 pounds is normal I’m so ready to skate it all off. I’m ready to get my body back.
Do or do not. There is no ‘try’.

16 and pregnant
So I’m watching 16 and pregnant and there is one girl who was training to be a cage fighter before she got pregnant. She tries talking about it with her friend and can’t help but tear up. I was really excited for this episode because I can 100% relate to what she’s going through. As ecstatic as I am to have a child, it is very difficult to give up something you truly love for nearly a year. When you’re a competitor it’s hard to take a week off of practice let alone almost a year. It’s hard to watch others do what you love to do. It’s even harder to watch others do what you wish you could be doing and half ass it and not appreciate the fact that they can do it. And when you express your emotions and maybe get a little teary eyed people who do not have that level of commitment to anything just do not understand where you are coming from. Sometimes they may go as far as telling you you’re ridiculous or make you feel like a bad mom for thinking about anything other than the baby. It’s hard. It’s very very hard. At this point I am well adjusted in my pregnancy, the pain of not being able to do what I love has subsided. Do I still cringe when I hear anyone talk about how awesome Rollercon is gonna be? Absolutely. But I’ve found different ways to cope. Ultimately I think staying involved in the league has helped so much. I have done so many things I would not have had the opportunity to do other wise like coaching and announcing. I feel that in the end I will be walking away with much more than some finely tuned skills. Now I’m almost into my third trimester and it feels like the home stretch. I’ve begun talking to my midwives about how long they think it will be for me to return to derby. I’m going to order myself some new scrimmage shirts, plates, bearings, wheels, and a helmet. Skating no longer feels like it’s completely out of my reach. It feels good.
